Kanter Passport Issues Resolved

Kanter Makes Return to USA

Kanter Returns to U.S. After Being Held in Romania

Sometimes the heated competition of the NBA playoffs blinds us as basketball fans from the things that really matter in life.

Over the past few days, former lottery pick and current Oklahoma City Thunder big man Enes Kanter was just trying to enjoy the first part of his offseason, but ran into a couple of issues. Kanter, who has been on a world tour for his Light Foundation, running a charity event that provides meals and clothes for the less fortunate, the Turkish-born big man made stops in a number of countries.

Then he got to Bucharest, the capital of Romania and Kanter was detained by airport officials on Saturday was carrying a canceled Turkish passport.

“They’ve been holding us here for hours, by these two police [officers],” Kanter, who celebrated his birthday on the day of the detainment, said. “The reason behind it is just, of course, my political views, and the guy who did it is Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey.”

Thankfully, Kanter was able to make his heroic return home to the States safely today after the eventful trip. He is expected to speak at an news conference on Monday morning at 9:30am at the NBA headquarters in New York.

Never a dull moment around the NBA!

Probably best Kanter stays put for the next little bit!
